So is your viscous fan facing the correct way? I believe you can install them backwards. Otherwise flush and clean your coolant/radiator.

Excellent point, yes you can install the engine fan with the blades backwards and then it will not pull enough air.
Does not seem possible?
Then ask me how I know.

Have you checked the clutch on your AC compressor? If it's close to seizing, that would explain the overheating. Have someone inside the truck switch on the ac while you look under the hood. If the compressor pulley occasionally slows down, or stops, then the compressor clutch is shot.

I have a 2001 DII and it did the same thing. I noticed at first the coolant was leaking so i replaced the tank, that was in the winter. In the summer further diagnosing showed me that is was the thermostat. Replaced, no problems any more.

don't know if this will help, you may have to take it to the stealership to get this diagnosed...it may not be over heating at all... it might be an electrical short, i don't know how to check this and I don't you to run your engine till it seizes - thats why I mentioned the stealer...

I don't think the fan is facing the wrong dirrection. I put it on the same way I took it off. Anybody have a pic so I can make sure someone else didn't put it on wrong. I will check the a/c compressor clutch. I may borrow my buddy's infared temp gauge and see if it is really overheating. I am going to go ahead and remove my radiator and clean it. I have flushed it many times but never cleaned the outside of it. I will get back to you.

The way to tell if the fan is on the right way or not is to look for the Land Rover emblem molded into the blades, that should be towards the front of the truck.

Here is what I have found so far. Fan is on correctly. Removed radiator. Radiator grill was half clogged with bugs. Cleaned it inside and out. Installed radiator. Turned truck on and have a/c running right now and it is not overheating but it is not 100 degrees outside right now. Like I said truck on with a/c on and 1 fan is not on. Looking from the front the fan on the left is not on. Could this be part of my problem? I am pretty sure the left fan is the a/c fan. Let me know!

Both electric fans are for the a/c.
Both need to be working.
Restricted air flow will cause overheating.

I will check the fan out and if it is bad I will replace it. I think I see them brand new on ebay for $100! Will replace or fix short and update everybody!
