I always thought it was a bad design to have to press a button on the climate control to see the exterior temperature. All of my other cars have this permanently displayed somewhere, and I wanted to replicate this functionality in the Disco 2.
I bought this cool 12 volt DC dual-temperature display
I then removed the clock, which is redundant since both my radio and my navigation unit display the time (as well as my phone, watch, etc.), and began modifying it to hold the new display.
Once I got the display to fit, I used a label maker for the legend and then began wiring things up.
I put the interior probe in the factory location, left of the steering wheel.
I put the exterior probe in the lower grill area under the bumper.
I ran the probe wire through the firewall on the passenger side. I tapped power and ground from the climate control, so it's only on with the ignition.
Here is the final result:

This a cool thing to put in my “sometime” list. I have an exterior temp display on my other car and it’s odd how much I find it to be handy. I would replace the clock in a heartbeat too because a) that functionality is now in my cell phone and b) real Land Rover owners disconnect the battery for maintenance so frequently it’s not worth resetting every time
