Default DIY valve guide change: questions

Anybody ever change a valve guide? I have several questions.
1. Is bronze phospor guide the top line compared to steel guides?
2. What do you use to push the valve guides out? Hydraulic press vs slide hammer?
3. Did you have to heat up the head and if so up to what temperature?
4. What type of reamer did you use to bore out the valve guide to spec ( piloted reamers ).
5. Is it easier when you use a valve seat guide so your ream is more in-line with the valve seat?
6. Why did Rover have a newer valve guide supposed about .2 inch shorter the the old LGJ100900 guides? is there a
matching valve to this?

P.S. Anybody had any experience with a valve seat cutter made by NEWAY using carbide cutters?
Any response is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed

Hi Mike,
It's me with that white smoke during warm up. In the process of changing head gaskets and restoring the head to specs. Currently waiting for a new head since my last one was cracked. Several valve guides, exhaust, are out of spec: has .005 to.008 play by dial indicator. 2 intake valves have carbon build up suggesting leaking seals. A valve job is in order. Don't wanna leave that sloppy valve like that. Will set myself up for an engine failure if I left it alone.
I'm trying to pick up some tips re: valve jobs. Haven't done it in a while but I have the tools and equipment to make it easy. Doing a lot of internet research. Plus I like working with my hands.

I'd just take em to a machine shop and have them do it. It's really not expensive.

What have you bee using or octane? Are you still on your originial plug wires, if so put a set of Magnaco wires on while it is apart.
I am surprised your heads are in that poor of a condition.
Good luck

I've got STI (spark transfer international) and have been consistently using high test on my baby.
Thanks
