Default do i need CDL linkage or replace the whole unit?

I have a 01 D2. How do I know if it was made early enough in the year to have the CDL ready to go or not. I know if it was made early enough all i need is the linkage to engage the CDL...but if it was made too late in the year i have to replace the whole unit. Is there an easy way to figure out if all I need is the linkage?

You need to look for the nipple ontop of the t-case. Not sure if you can see it from underneath or if you have to go through the console.

Excuse my ignorance, but is it safe to assume if I have the nipple, then all i need is the linkage?

Never assume, you will have to check for the nipple.

lol...thats what i ment...if im able to find the nipple on my transfer case, then that means i have the internals for the CDL and just need to add the linkage.....if there is no nipple, then i need to replace the whole transfer case, right?
