Default Do Land Rover Dealers Use Facial Recognition Technology?

I'm starting to think our local Land Rover dealer uses some sort of advanced facial recognition technology that can transcode human emotionsto determine wheather newcomers are real buyers or just tire kickers. I've been through the showroom several times and usually I stop and thumb through a brochure or two and nobody ever stops to ask me if I'm interested in buying anything. One time, I spent at least an hour looking over a LR3, laying under it, looking through the interior and under the hood. I wasn't the least bit interested in buyingone, just looking at how they are put together now vs my 98. Then I looked over the other L/R's in the showroom. Even then, never did a sales person approach me. So, I assume they'veimplemented some sort of technology to filter the buyers from the tire kickers

Come by the dealer in tulsa. I get mauled every time I go in there. I was in an oil soaked t-shirt on a saturday when it was 20 degrees out. They didn't bat an eye and asked if I needed a salesman. I told them Curtis had my parts ready. I was given a bottle of water and a box of chocolates when I was paying for my $5 pick up tube gasket.

Then again, I do look like a movie star....

Man, sorry to hear about your poor service. They should at the very least acknowledge that you are there.

If you are young or look young they probably dismissed you as a buyer.

Its very well possible. I must have also been scanned by the buyer/no buyer facial recognition subsystem when I took my disco in for servicing. I too was deeply checking out an LR3. Needless to say I got plenty of attantion from the service dept when I walked in. I guess not only do they know whether or not you are buying but they know when your Disco is broke LOL ;-)

That's the strange part.I'm 40ish Igenerally park right next to the front door, usually driving my Cadillac, dressed in a nice shirt and dress pants (I'm required to wear ***** pants for work). The front desk lady always politely greets me and I see sales guys buzzing around, but they never even come over by me. I guess it's the ultimate in low-pressure sales. Personally I think there's a guy sitting in a control room somewheremonitoring LCD panelsshowing people in the showroom. They've probably done a facial capture, it separates my face, the computer rotates my image 360 degrees, then seconds laterred flashing words appear under my image"non-buyer".The guy then whispers into a microphone to the salespeople to stand-down on this one. Then the contol room operator cracks open another Mountain Dew and wipes a bevy of empty candy wrapers, potatochip bags and crumpled coffee cupsonto the floor with other debris and reviews the next customer.

Same thing happened to us. It was a saturday and no other customers were in sight. We mulled around for about thirty minutes looking for some one to help us. We drove to the next city and bought one there. Now when we take it our local dealer for service they don't treat us as well.
We asked the local dealer for extended warranty info for a couple months. Never recieved any info. I emailed the dealer we purchased from and had the warranty completed in a couple days.

1993 Deville (not new, but looks great and too trusty to sell! 233k mi)
1991 Seville (again not new, but a real head turner:diamond white with tan faux convert top and aftermarket chrome wheels)

Recently looked at an '03,but bought a Jetta diesel instead. However, not sure I'm going to be able to get used to such a small car.

LOL! I actually prefer to be left alone so maybe they're using good ole reverse psychology. Maybe you should try dressing up in drag, short skirt & have big fake ***** popping out of your shirt, and a 3 carat diamond engagement ring on your finger. Looking like a hot trophy wife with her sugar daddies bank account at her disposal. Orget the wife to do it?See how long they leave you alone then LOL!
