Do you have liability or full coverage insurance?
Hello all, this is probably a stupid question but here it goes..Due to the fact our prices for these trucks continue to fall, I want to know if owners are just going with the liability coverage or went for the full coverage? In my case my D2 insurance will double if I switch to full coverage.

I have State Farm, two adults and a 19 year old, full on 97 D1 ($100/mo), 93 Mercedes convertible ($59/mo - liability only), and 06 Kia van ($77/mo - full). The old Merc convertible was about $180/mo full, you can buy plenty of old W124 Mercs for under $2000, just like D1's. I had a 92 F250 liability only , $40/mo., sold it. Which was a mistake, never sell a pickup truck that is paid for. Oh, and $5 a month per vehicle of that cost is roadside "AAA" style assitance via State Farm.

Most recommend dropping when vehicle value is below $4000. Also, if it is a vehicle you rely on for daily transport, can you afford to replace it out of pocket in the case of a catastrophe? Another thing is add up the difference between the full coverage premium and the liability only premium, how long would it take you to save up to the vehicles value if you put the difference in a savings account? The shorter the time the less of a case for keeping full coverage.

Liability only. I figure if I wreck the out of pocket cost for my own repairs is my punishment for being careless.
The problem with that philosophy is that I got rear ended in AL last year and the guy did about $2,000 in damage, based on two estimates. The guy was DUI, claimed it was my fault and his insurance company came after me. My insurance told them to **** off, but the only way I could get any money is to take them to court. After 5 calls to law firms with no returned calls I gave up. The only witness who's info I had wouldn't ever return my calls, probably his wife told him to stay out of it.
I'm considering adding comprehensive, but still haven't decided. It would be cheaper to add one of those always on cameras that record like the last 30 min and loop, than pay the premium. If I'd had one of those installed there would have clear proof who's fault the accident was.
