Default does HDC work with light on?

so the amigos have paid a visit. or should i say moved in. the lights dont clear, they stay on after restarting the truck. i have an ultra gauge and it shows trouble code P1590. i thought ultra gauge wont read ABS codes?

anyway, id like to go mudding this weekend. does hill descent work at all if theres a code involving it? and it seems P1590 is such a broad code it doesnt help me pinpoint a problem..

thanks guys.

No it doesn't work with the lights on. P1590 isn't an ABS code, it's an engine code, caused by the engine computer getting data it doesn't like from the ABS computer.

Correct, if you search for amigo scanner on the forums you can find what you need. I think some guys here even rent them (or you can buy one for $100).

i found that p1590 is rough road fault or something like that. i drive well paved asphalt every day. what would cause that code?

The 1590 code comes on when your 3 amigos are on, that's it.

No, they don't have the equipment to do an ABS scan. You have to get an amigo tool (like mentioned above) or take it to a shop that has a testbook.

What you can do is check for excess brake dust, or a leaky caliper - I have a leaky caliper that's causing my code.

For the cost to see a shop twice, once to rear the codes and again to clear them after the repair, you are better off to buy a 3 amigo scanner.

I'm just going by memory here, but I had a P1590 code on a Discovery and I believe it was for the MAF sensor. If you have five minutes, take a look at the air filter and remove the hose from the air intake to see if anything looks out of place in either area. From what I remember (if I'm thinking about the right error code), I saw a little oil pooled up at the air intake when I removed the air duct. The oil was just enough to cause the MAF sensor to trigger a check engine. You can get some MAF cleaner and spray it down. Let it dry, clear the code, and see what happens. If you see oil, you're probably about to lose a cylinder.
