I think I just traded my tired old Disco to Extinct (he can confirm). Had many good times in that truck, most notably ferrying my dog around... When he’s done refurbishing her, stand in line, because I’m tempted to buy the truck back.

The 2003 he provided in partial trade is a dream - everything I loved in the 2001 and then some. Nevertheless I’m already feeling the bug to do some mods. Best setup (re: wheels and tires) to accommodate a 2” lift?

It’s a bright cherry red, I’m not exactly sure what the official Land Rover name is- still I rarely see one in the same color and even though I’m partial to green on Land Rovers, I like that my bright red is a little rare.

Edit/Update: I think it’s called Rutland Red after a little bit of research.

Action shot from the most recent memorable trip. Drove cross-country from Cali to the East Coast. 12mpg average, but what a blast! Best part: we did not need roads.

Confirmed, restoration already underway. Headliner out, rear door apart, drivers door apart, lots of parts on order.

Well, I spent the day yesterday reorganizing my truck and repacking for camping, etc.

I made a cheesy mount for my handheld GMRS radios, and set up the headset and VOX features on the radios to use the mics and headsets while driving. I also have a 200W sine wave converter to charge the radios in the field, with a 12x18 inch solar panel, also.

I took out the back single seat so I can sleep in it with cushions, so now it is in reality a 3 seat truck I can camp in. I put in a fire extinguisher on the rear door. I also built a mess kit with everything I need in a Pelican brief case. All the recovery gear, chains, tools, hand winch, breakdown kit bags, and inverter are ratchet strapped down for safety.
