Is the door handle lock cylinder replaceable ?
Hi.
Hit the exterior door handle while skidding sideways on mud and broke it.
If I buy an used one, can the key cylinder be transplanted ?

Here's a link to my thread from three years ago that shows how to remove the door lock cylinder. Go to post #13.
I removed mine to swap out a broken part as shown in the thread, but the methods are the same. Be careful when you remove it to avoid losing any of the wafers and springs.
While you have it out, go ahead spray it with carb cleaner to rinse out the dirt and gunk, then spray it with silicone lube before reinstalling it in your replacement door handle. You shouldn't need to remove the wafers and springs as I did.
Good luck, and please post again to let us know how it goes for you.

Posting to confirm that lower priced exterior handles from other doors without key cylinder can be used to replace the higher priced exterior driver handle that has a key cylinder.
The cylinder was transplanted to a (rear right in my case) handle, preserving the original key. Just make sure the key is inserted when pulling the cylinder out of its barrel to avoid a rain of microsprings and parts !
