Door Hinge Modifications?

Has anyone modified their door hinges so that they will actually open all the way? I don't know why they put the stops so close in, it makes getting things in and out tough sometimes.

The design of the door does not allow it to open any further even if you could change out the hinges, the door would open into a body panel.

Odd, it looks like there's an inch or more room there. I'll have to take a closer look when I get it back.
