Default Dorman fan stress cracks

I've been running the Dorman fan for a couple years and just wondering if anyone else has seen these type of stress cracks and what might cause them??? Aggressive water crossing?

My old one did that too, I hate to say it but my bet is just poor manufacturer quality control, they are so cheap they just don't care much.

is there a better alternative that is cheaper than the rover fan but works with the Hayden clutch and shroud on the DII?

@tnrangerover probably but it is about fan pitch, number of blades, blade direction and diameter. I just inspect mine regularly, I have looked but it is difficult as you have search by those parameters.

This, Dorman is not generally known for their quality. Good you found this before it exploded under your hood.

I've had a URO D1 replacement explode under my hood and it was on the XD for less than 2 days........ Pretty much all of the Ford Explorer fan blades (Dorman 620-112 fits a Ford 4.0L V6) or the OEM Ford Blades will get cracks eventually. My Dorman 620-112's are about 3-4 years old with zero cracks on them. I had looked into a full metal replacement, but it ended up sitting to far back. It's a plastic blade and it's not $$$ to replace so I just inspect em and replace em as needed.

I was thinking about going over to Summit Racing and doing a little test fit on the Derale Cooling Products 17918 (counterclockwise) or Derale Cooling Products 17118 (clockwise).

Yes. My fan was just replaced for the same reason. Stress cracks starting to form. Buy from AutoZone and take advantage of the lifetime warranty. Inspect and replace as needed. Mine had cracks forming after 3 years.

I'd get that fan out of there -- soon it will shatter and dent your hood / take out your radiator (this is very common with Range Rover Classics ...)

Tested the Derale fan and it sits too close to the belts but it could probably work with a fan clutch spacer; I'm back to a new dorman fan for now.
