Default Drive shaft problems... Can anyone help?

So, I've had my Disco for about 6 months, it has driven rough since I bought it, get's a little shaky around 70 mph, but yesterday it started making loud clicking noises from the front when I drive, reverse, any movement. Figured it may be the cv axle or something, took it to a landrover specialist they told me it was the front drive shaft that needs replacing, which will cost me 800$, that's more than I want to spend of course. Had someone come out and have a second look at it- they told me it was the front drive shaft as well. Said it was pushed up in the axle or something along those lines? Something about dry rotted pieces? They said it was pulling apart from the u joint and making those clicking noises, told me I need to replace the drive shaft before it ruins the u joint also and I'll have to replace that as well. They quoted me 500$. Still more than I want to pay.
So, my question is this: is that what this looks like (I'll post pics)? Also, do I really need to replace the whole front drive shaft? Is there not a piece that can be replaced to fix this problem? If so, can someone elaborate on how?
Any help/advice would be super helpful and much appreciated. Thanks a ton in advance!

Doesn't look like a factory shaft. If it's clicking perhaps it hasn't been greased, if it has a greasable centering ball try greasing that.

Does it look like it's pulling apart like the second fella told me?
How would I go about greasing it? Just removing it, pulling it apart, and greasing?

Also, yeah, don't think it's the original shaft. The land rover place said it looked like this has happened before with a previous owner, and they had to replace it after it threw the shaft.

Don't pull it apart MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

The shaft is designed to slide out a bit, not to be pulled apart. Remove the shaft and grease the zerks on the u-joints.

Okay. Do I have to remove the drive shaft to grease it?
