don't feel bad about your truck slapping you with his shaft....
a few summers ago, I crawled under one of my work trucks to pull the rear shaft for rebuild..I was on an incline, so in addition to chocking the tires, I engaged the 4 wheel drive so the front shaft would hold as well. electronic engagement didn't have time to kick in before I shut off the truck and the chocks were not enough.

I got the last bolt out and...........35-40yds later I was shirtless, bloody, had one shoe, and my pants where full of gravel

GENIUS

Damn, dusty! That's a hell of story!

I would suggest rebuilding if you don't want to spend the full amount on a new one. I had my '04 rebuilt at a local shop for about half the price. It's been running great since Feb.

Default The Discovery is Back on the Road

Dusty - I just picture you like the guy on that TV show "Porter Ridge" god that would of sucked. LMAO you shouldn't work on those vehicles naked son.

So, after some looking around last night I found a drive shaft shop in Wheeling, IL. Which is a north suburb of Chicago. I took it in to him at 8:30, he rebuild, balanced it and made her look nice and pretty. by 9:45.

They charge $300 to rebuild it, I thought a little high but the 1 hour, and no shipping charges and the fact they were using quality parts swayed me. It really was the the 1 hour turn around that got me.

I had it back in the by 11:15, with no damage to myself, thank you. Test drove her for five miles. It's amazing that loud squealing sound is all gone and she drive great again.

Thanks for all your help.
