Yep, I have been in Augusta (CSRA) most of my long life. I am pastor of Lake Park Baptist Church, 211 Milledge Rd. I see that you are at Ft Gordon. Would like to have a cup of coffee or lunch sometime. I am going to order a new shaft and see what happens.

Changed out the Drive Shaft. Vibes left but now I detect a high pitch squeal that stops when the vehicle stops and returns when in motion. ????????

Could be as simple as rock or debris caught in brake caliber between rotor, or brake pads worn and dragging due to sticky caliper. Would start there, determine which wheel it’s coming from, does it get worse when brakes applied? If brakes are fine start looking at wheel bearing

You did fully lube the new drive shaft before installing it right? They normally come with some grease, but they are not fully full of grease. I always check before installing a new one.

Yes sir, greased it up good. The DS I bought was fully serviceable. Still have a shrill whine in the drive train that I am attempting to diagnose. Also am trying to locate the Crank shaft position sensor on my 1995 Discovery 1. Any clues out there?

Yes, fully lubed. The shaft I bought is fully serviceable. However, am still plagued with a shrill squeal in the drive train that starts and stops with movement of the vehicle.
Also am trying to find the crankshaft position sensor on my 95 discovery 1. any clues out there????

I am pretty sure the 95 does not have one, do you have a distributor ? Did some checking they show up with the 4.0L engines with GEMS.

Richard, Thanks I was reading about that this morning and was confused because several had referred me to that as a solution to my problem of eng shutting down after it is driven for about 20 to 30 min around the neighborhood. Can tell it is electrical because of the strong gas odor that accompanies the shut down.

Well it could be the distributor, I had an Xterra when it would get hot it would not start, let cool it down for 15- 20 minutes ran fine. Just before I replaced it it got cranky while running.
