Why would you suggest a water soluable grease for this application vs one that will stay on when it gets wet like Moly?

Lihium grease is not water soluble and is a very common application for window mechanisms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_grease

They may have. Is there a way you can compare your old one to the new one and see if they are similar?

Same thing happened to me after a little research I found the plastic washer at lowes. a package of 4-6 for 99 cents! I don't remember the size of the washer but if you bring the plastic thats broken off to lowes try and match it up. The one i bought was a little smaller so I threw 2 of them on the oven and when they were hot enough to bend, I bent them over the spot where they go. you need to stack 2 together so they keep the thickness and bam! 99 cent fix when land rover wants you to spend over 200.
