Default Driving through water

I was out at my goose hunting lease and had to cross a pretty big patch of water about 12 inches deep. Everything went fine but it got me wondering about those video's you see on youtube where they drive Land Rovers though water 3 feet or more. How watertight are the door seals? Doesn't water leak in and fill up the interior? I have a nice 2003 and would hate to have to pull out all the carpet to dry it out. Just wondering.

I know from experience that if you stop you'll get water in, but as long as you keep moving you should be ok for a while.

t tire with no problem. As already mentioned, slow and speedy and don't stop cause water can wash up into your air intake hose and there goes the engine.
A D1, has a slightly higher intake which is good but an ECU, that when splashed shuts the truck down.
If you are going deeper, make sure all your door seals, body plugs and any other opening into the passenger area is water tight.
I have go as deep as to have water up to the point of coming over the hood, one time and never again without a snorkle and they only slightly improve your chances.
When crossing a river, drive either straight across or aim slightly down stream to prevent as much water as possible in getting into the engine compartment.

I have had water inside the 2000 SD that we take off road. It is not an issue. The front floor boards are slanted to help drain. Just don't get a foot of water inside. Make sure the door gaskets are not ripped.

Stop before you enter the water, start slow and go fast enough to make a small bow wake, the bow wake actually makes a cavity under the engine and as long as you are moving forward water will not flood the engine compartment.
If you stop, your screwed, if you try and back up, your screwed.
The proper way to cross a moving river/stream is by angling UP river, the corner of your truck that the water is hitting will act like the bow of a boat and will deflect water away from the grill.
If you must cross a deep river it is best to bungy a tarp to the grill to keep water out, then again start slow and drive just fast enough to keep moving with a small bow wake.
If you travel angled down river the back of your truck will be lifted up by the force of the water and you can flip over.
Always keep the heaviest part of the truck, the front, against the flow of the river.
Once out of the water drive with your left foot on the brakes to dry the rotors off.
Check for water ingress afer you get back home.`
If you flood the engine with water, no problem, remove the spark plugs and crank the engine over, this will pump the water out of the cylinders.

My question is, when do the forum members get an invite to the goose lease??? Here in fl the duck season has royally sucked this year..Not to mention my dad's 1yr old lab gotkilled by a car the day bevfore opening day, wehave currently blown up2 go-devil motors and 1 outboard..All of this for a total of only 1 daylimiting out, and a handfull of birds the rest of the season..

Sounds like a country song, doesn't it??
