Lightbulb Dump D2 for ML500

Sold my D2 in San Diego in 2014.
And I had to put head gaskets on this D2

Way back in 2012

https://www.flickr.com/photos/76579732@N07/

Picked up a 2005 Mercedes ML500 for $500

The Mercedes ML320 and ML500 were designed to COMPETE with the Discovery I and 2.

My 2005 ML500 has the same HI / Low diff but in this case it is a switch.

No 3 amigo issues. But I did have to replace a deal ABS controller.

Gets 16.5 MPG.

Here is all the work I had to do on the Mercedes ML500.
Lucky for me - the Mercedes M113 engine is bullet proof and no head gasket problems.
And each cylinder has 2 spark plugs.

Cheers guys.
Consider the ML500. It is very nice.

Haha and no sway bar . bushings wearing out.
And death wobble.

I did have bad tir rods and yep that did cause a death wobble

Never have experienced death wobble on a D2 (lifted or stock), also haven’t worn thru swaybar bushings

3 Amigos IS NOT a big deal and vehicle wise it never was!! It used to be a big deal when only a T4 could properly diagnose it & that was also before Option B was a well known fix (Thanks H1 Hummer owners for the fix). Once scantools came out that could read LR Specific ABS codes, and Option B = if the ABS faults aren’t fixed now days the owner IMHO is either lazy, cheap, or doesn’t care to properly fix it!

Only Mercedes ML320 I’d even consider was in Jurassic Park The Lost World lol!! Rest of em look like jelly beans. G500 is more D1/D2 territory IMHO.

I'm confused and amused that the video link is to "how to" vids.
I would of at least shared a video that talks about how great the ML is supposed to be to get my point across...

Haha - Richard Hammond... -

So what I learned in that quick video is that the M applies the brakes to the wheels that are slipping vs the Discovery and Jeep that apply power to the wheels with grip.
And the M has great cup holders.....

I think the D1/D2 interior is very utilitarian & luxurious. The WJ’s leather = cheap, fake wood = cheap, and it’s a unibody. The ML320 isn’t bad looking inside, but I like a more rugged look vs all curvy inside. Outside it reminds me of a Dodge Caravan...

The D2 cup holders on the console are HUGE. I haven’t bigger ones yet once you take out the center bezel for smaller drinks.

I liked my 04 WJ 4.7L V8 QUADRATRAC, but I LOVE my D1/D2/LR3’s much much more!
