DuraTrac Tire Fit
I am in the market for new tires (more aggressive with occasional off-road use) and from the feedback on this site I really like the Goodyear Duratrac...not to mention they look tough
However I have run up against a possible show stopper...
Will the Duratrac LT275/65R18 tires fit on my stock rims and a stock suspension without rubbing. If no can anybody tell me what mods do I need to make them fit properly?

Ylo will know he put them on his DII before his lift. I think slight trimming on the inside front fender well. I'm getting a set today wish me luck. Going on a Old man Emu 2" lift. $650 New for the tires cant pass them up new on Craigslist.
Edit:
I scored the brand new Goodyear Duratracs for $600 out the door(Repair shop ordered them for a customer and they never picked them up...Gotta love Craigslist!). $30 to install all 4 at Discount tire. No balancing I was able to transfer and pour in all my Dynobeads from my Bridgstones. Tomorrow searching for a past gen Duratrac spare, found one for $35. Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow.
Now to sell my Bridgstone Dueler Revo 2's with 6mm or 8/32'nds left + spare for $400, that that will be my record of a deal! The cost of 1 Duratrac new for all 4 bam! I'm may even beat Spike555 on this deal.

Wow - $650 for a set of new Dura Tracs? That's a great deal compared to around $260 each. Kinda takes the sting out of cost of the lift kit.
Anyway... good luck with that!
Now I can deal with rubbing at extremes of turning ... long term, max 2 months, I have plans to do a 2" lift... I need tires now... there's snow on the ground here in Colorado and my old tires are down to the wear bars....

Those size will rub without the lift for sure, and probably rub pretty badly. I put my 2" OME on, and had the tires installed a day later and still had rubbing issues with my Saudi spec bumper (basically a trimmed version of the standard plastic bumper).
This is my Disco with 2" OME lift and 265/75 R16 Duratracs, the Red Arrow shows where I got some rubbing initially on tight left hand turns. Basically the inner splash guard inside the wheel well is what gets caught on the tread and it makes a racket like a son-of-a-B. I just unscrewed the panel, trimmed it with some beefy scissors, and tucked it behind the lower bumper piece that it was originally secured to.

hello yellowD... can you post close ups on the trim work? i had a 3" terrafirma just go in on my 00 disco and my next paycheck ill have enough for tires, im leaning towards 285/75R16 guard dog mt's (32.2" according to thier website) and am curious to see whats going to be involved, if its something i might be able to tackle with a dremel or am im bringing it directly to a body shop.

What front bumper do you have as that will make a difference I think. If you have a body colored bumper you may want to have a pro do the cutting, but if you have the black plastic, you'll be good with a Dremel.
black plastic... vertically i dont see a problem, but there was definatly limited room front to rear in the front wheel well.
been readin though... i noticed that the 285/75r16s are really wide... i wish tire dimensions where universilized to non-derived numbers. i dont give a **** about the RATIO of dimension, just tell me the dimensions haha. i dont really want wider tires, i only want TALLER tires. i might settle for 265/75r16, its an inch shorter or so but also an inch thinner... think thatll make a significant difference in terms of noise and miliage, no?
now the rubbing before cutting, was it really only on full turns? just how much could you get away with before they snagged? i rarely turn the wheel more then a full turn of the wheel... would i be able to get away with a few weeks around town driving if i swap over to the tires and i end up needing a body shop?
if its just the plastic i dont think id care cutting it up, but did you have to modify any actual body work (aluminum or trim pieces?)

And I prefer the tall skinnies as well....and I don't like the metric tire size thing either, throws me off.

The rubbing where the tire would catch sounded like the truck was going to rip itself apart, it drove me nuts. I suffered through it for a week, but couldn't go any more than that.

First, no they will not fit and even if they did, when you go off road with your old warn out factory suspension, you will be all over the trail, bouncing and top heavy.
You need to throw a lift at it for both the tire clearance as well as the needs you will have when off road.
