Default e-brake/oil leak

99 Disco II. I think I have a two-fold problem. E-brake useless & oil dripping from drum. In my search of this forum, I confirmed my theory that the output shaft seal of the transfer case is leaking and getting onto the e-brake shoes. My question is; how big of job is it to pull the e-brake drum and get at that seal? Oil also is dripping down the front of the transfer case, accumulating on the bolts of the transfer case cover plate. I cleaned everything and confirmed that it is not a static leak. It only appears after driving. Are there any other seals I should check, or could all that oil be coming from that one rear seal?

Thanks in advance - Bill

Default RE: e-brake/oil leak

There are many seals that can cause leaks. When I do a reseal, I do the frt and rear output seal, both o rings in the intermediate shaft (being careful not to drop the gear set), reseal the PTO cover, the input shaft seal and check all the switches and top nuetral lockout solenoid. You will probably have to replace the e brake shoes but you can try to soke them in a cleaner.
