Easy way to get the PS Pulley off?
99 D2 w/ACE 135K mi.
Have to replace the power steering pump (hopefully that's all). I have the rave CD for the D2 now (can't believe I got this far w/o it), which has a great step by step for the job.
I'm stuck at getting the pulley off the power steering pump, how to loosen the three 10mm bolts that hold it to the hub without spinning the pump shaft???
I tried with the serpentine belt in place, box wrench on the 10mm bolt and pounding the end of the wrench with a hammer.... just spins the pump.
Any idears gents?

One of the best investments I have made for my garage is one of these, when I am working in the garage I close the door and turn on the heater, you wont be wearing shorts but your wont freeze either.
Not working in the garage I turn it off.
Does the new pump not come with a pully?

where did you download the rave for the D2?
where did you download the rave for the D2?

The download is a 600meg iso image file that has to be burned to a cd using a cd burn software. The output is a CD that contains a collection of executables and PDFs. Its sick. I would GLADLY send some one the CC# for the wealth of info contained within, but i undertstand LR doesnt sell it... oh well.

The Rave CD manual calls for the pulley to be removed to access the bolts that hold the pump on. The picture fo the pump also shows it w/o the pulley mounted.
Just looking for some helpful hints from someone who has done the job before. I'll eventually get it figured out tomorrow, just hoping someone could save me a few hours of frigid misery...
thx- duc

RE: Easy way to get the PS Pulley off?
Had something equally horrible with an older BMW a while back.... ended up getting a piece of flat stock, cutting it so it fits within the circumference of the pulleyand drilling two holes the same distance apart as any two of the bolts.Cut a square hole in the middle so you can put a half in breaker bar in the middle... this will allow you to hold the pulley still by locking two of the three bolts while undoing the third... It's a complete pain and on principle, it shouldn't be like that, but in the end it's what I had to do. I tried to draw a picture of this in paint, but couldn't get it uploaded properly.
Good luck.
