Default eBay watts link - shimming

Anyone successfully shimmed the aftermarket watts link that has the slightly too big center hole…. and after wrestling with the bolts for 2 hours and getting the thing in, there is still an annoying clunk?

This one.

Price is great, the continued clunk is not.

Are you certain that the Watts linkage is causing the problem? I was chasing an issue that I thought was the watts linkage, which turned out to be the sway bar/ARB links.

ive been through a lot under there. The original clunk was 100% watts links. I took off the shocks and was able to rock the car from underneath to create the same noise. Could feel the knock as well from under there.

New shocks and springs, cos it was about time anyway. Did replace one sway bar link which was worn.

I do think that this continued issue is the hole in the centre of the watts. When I tried the bolt in there, there was movement, but it wasnt significant tho, I figured it would surely never knock…. It would be a small shim.

What material has anyone used to try and do that?

The watts linkage is just one of those parts where OEM is the way. It's pricey for sure, but considering how long the OEM ones last (225K for me), probably won't have to replace it again for the life of the truck.

I installed this one a couple of years ago and have been happy with it. Pretty easy install.
