Default ECU/BCU replacement

Does anyone know if ECU/BCU and instrument cluster from an 03-04 will hookup and work (seamlessly) on a 2001? I need to replace mine to resolve my weird unlocking/disarming issue and the only used set I can find with SAI is for an 03-04... Looked at part numbers and BCU seems to be interchangeable, ECU has diff number for 99-02 and 03-04. Any insight is appreciated!!

There are only two current part numbers for ecu, with SAI and without. What part numbers do you show for your ecu and the newer one?

As far as I know if have SAI and you use and SAI ecu you should be fine. I put a 99-02 cluster in my 2003 to program some of the lights for someone, and it worked fine.

From roverlandparts
Land Rover Part #: ECU # NNN100460 99-02

Land Rover Part #: ECU # NNN100640, LR006302 03-04
I wonder if they input it with a typo.
Their website doesn't delineate between SAI and NON-SAI...
Sounds like your swap of cluster gives me the answer I need about the instruments.

Part number ending in 460 is normal and 640 is SAI, no matter the year. Difference between 99-02 and 03-04 is the software that gets loaded on to them for engine size. Should work fine. Might want to verify your current part number though.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. So the 4.6 ECU should work with the 4.0. I don't need to replace the SLABS correct??

Should be fine. There are lots of 03 and 04 discos driving around with 4.0 because their engine blew up.

SLABS isn't security synced to anything so you can keep your old one. BUT the 2003 and especially the 2004 slabs ecu has better software. But you might risk it being configured wrong for your truck. Like SLS when your got coils or vice versa. Even if you have SLS and it configured for it, the height settings might not be right.

You might shop around to make sure you are getting a good price. Roverland is usually pretty high compared to others.

I'd check with Paul Grant, Will Tillery, or Marty Powell. There are other, but I always forget. Another place for a cheap one is Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

I'm buying used which is why I was concerned. Paul doesn't have any with SAI. Roverlandparts was used for reference only to see if they were compatible. Thanks for the other names!
