Default ECU replacement.

Ok so here is what I have. ECU has gone bad or so I was told, engine light was blinking and The truck has little to no power at acceleration. I have taken the ECU out, I was told that I can buy a use one with the cluster and link it to my truck. What is the proper way of doing it ?

Engine light blinking and low power does not equal bad ECU. What other evidence do you have?

I would reverse your actions a little bit. Put the ECU back in and try and diagnose things more.

Did you have some codes read, that came with the blinking engine light? That's the start of diagnosis.

X1 .................. also an ECU switchover isn't that simple as they need to be matched.

Good work getting that done. First steps.

Have you done any work on the plugs, wires or coils at all recently?

Yes. Go back and check all your work. Something could be amiss with what you've done. Pay very particular attention to the wiring order from plugs to coils.

No. Check out those things. Pull the plugs from the misfiring cylinders to check them out. Watch the truck running in the dark, see if you see arcing sparks where they shouldn't be.

How old are the wires?

Slightly advanced move. Reset the codes. Then swap a wire from a known not misfiring cylinder with one that is. Run the truck, compare the codes, see if the fault moves.

Don't drive your truck in this state. You will destroy the cats = $$$$s.
