Electric fan replacment

Electric fan replacment
After installing my new ultra guage I realized my electric fan was never kicking on at 212deg. and got as high as 215deg. in traffic. Upon further inspection I found the fan unable to be spun by hand and the 40 amp fuse that operates it was also blown. I assume the fan is shot so I checked with AB and found the replacment is $375! Thats a bit steep, any one used a generic after market fan as a replacement? Autozone has a number of inexpensive electric fans and didnt know if one of these could be modified.
Thanks

I went through that exact same thing when I purchased my Disco. I replaced it with a 12" Hayden unit for $55.00 at the local PepBoys. Works great and was easy to wire. You will have to fabricate brackets for it like I did using the stock mounts. Take your old fan down and try and get the closest version as far as cfm, size etc.

I will get some pics for you if I can seeing I am working on the Disco this weekend. One word of caution, make sure you test the fan direction when you hook it up. Use a piece of paper or something to make sure its pushing air in the correct direction. The Hayden fans are reversible.
