Default Engine Bay Air Compressor Setups

Hey all,

Are there any air compressor setups houses entirely in the engine bay? I'd like to add one to my truck to inflate tires but can't afford to lose any interior space. Any advice is appreciated!!

Thanks!

seen guys put one on the discovery frame in the empty cage under the driver's seat side. Just make sure it's water resistant

I've got a small ARB compressor mounted under the hood. Mine is where my coolant expansion tank used to be (I no longer run an expansion tank), but there are several places around one could be mounted with some creativity.

That's kind of what I was thinking!

Which ARB model did you get? The twin guy or just the single? Is it pretty good at light duty tire stuff?

There are a few good options...

If you don't have SAI you could mount an ARB where the SAI pump would normally be fitted.

Pull the cd-changer under the passenger seat and mount an air compressor

If you don't have the 7-seater option there is alot of empty space behind the rear cargo bins

Just the single. In truth, I have yet to use it to fill tires. I've been trailering to the trail due to some running issues I haven't taken the time to sort out, so it's only been used to engage/disengage lockers.

I run an in line thermostat, metal tee in the lower hose to connect the heater core, and an in line filler neck in the upper hose. I have no plastic anywhere in the system except the end tanks on the radiator which will go all aluminum when it gives up the ghost. Just like any old school domestic vehicle that had the filler cap right on the radiator instead of a separate reservoir.

I mounted the smaller ARB on the wheel arch on the pass side. I would not buy that compressor again as it's only good for lockers, not big enough to inflate tires. The high output single is perfect for all things. The twin is really rather large and overkill in most rover set ups.

Awesome! I think that's the route I'm going to go. The brackets and such that they sell with the unit look like you could make a really clean setup.
