Hey guys,

My check engine light came on yesterday. Auto Zone ran the code and got p1447 twice. I did a search and found out its the purgevalve. Where is this located and how hard is it to replace? Canthat just be reset. I'm driving from Austin to Nashville tonight and I dont wantcheck engine burned into my forehead I have a 99 d1 with 142000. Thanks so much for any help you guys can give me!!

 

the evap/purge valve is near the charcoal canister on the passenger side. It sounds like it may be stuck. Its supposed to direct unburned vapor into the intake or back to fuel tank. Do you notice that your gas cap is under pressure? I don't think its a big issue. Try clearing the code and see if it you get another CEL. rapping the valve with a hammer a few times may also do the trick.

 

Check your gas cap first, then if the code comes back tap on the charcoal canister with the handle of a screw driver, it wont take much, to much force and youll break the fittings.
