Default Engine Harmonic Balancer?

I have a 2000 Discovery II 4.0 engine.
Need a harmonic balancer .
The hub broke on it because, who ever worked on it before
didnot torque the bolt tight enought.(400ft. lbs.)
Any way trying to locate one at a resonable price,
there are 5 different ones listed by 5gram, 10 gram, 15 gram,
20 gram, and 30 gram.
I have tried the dealer with no help, on determing to
which one I have.
Can not weigh it because, part of it is missing some where,
on the road.
Will it realey make that much difference, which one goes back on, it has 95000 miles on it?
Thanks for any help.

it kind of shows you how hard LR really tried to balance the lower end when they 5 different weight balancer, so you lower end could be anywhere from 5 grams to 30 grams off balance.
Do they list 5 different balancer for an 2000 or 5 for discovery's?
You will have to rule them out by part number, 4.6's wont work (difference reciprocating mass), you can rule out any thing make for a standard as they a balanced for the flywheel.

Yes there are 5 different ones listed for a 2000 Discovery II
4.0 engine.
But you look at some sites that have them for sale,
and they only show 1 number?

rovers north does not list one for a DII, that I see. try a couple more LR specific sites and see what you come up with? or try a dismantler like Paul Grant he may know the difference?

You should get the part number off of your HB and go that route.

Or ---
Have someone weight their HB they are trying to sell you.
And you weigh yours..

I used to balance pistons and cranks and used a postal scale down to the ounce.

Paddocks would know the difference

https://www.google.com/#gs_rn=16&gs_...w=1242&bih=714

As would Rimmer Brothers - Triumph Car Parts, MG Rover Car Parts, and Land Rover Car Parts and Spares too.

AB is good - but a money vacuum.
and a wannabe compared to the UK vendors.

Of course, paying in POUNDS will clean you out too.
There is no good way out of this. Sorry.
