Engine running not hot enough??? for a change..lol
Ok so I did the tstat bypass along with a new airtech WP and a HD fan clutch. I was seeing temps spiking up to 220 to 222 at idle and speeds over 70 mph.Crusing at 45 to 65 I was seeing 208 to 212. Now after the work was done Im seeing 183 to 184 at idle and 184 at 80 mph, Crusing at 45 to 65 is 168 to 177. Dont I need to at least get into the 190 range to be at full operating temp? Are my numbers too good now ? Should I step up to a 190 tstat? Wait till summer and see what happens as air temp rises? No doubt this mod stuffed the high temps , 03 Disco 2
Are u still rocking a thermostat bypass (no thermostat at all) or are you using a 180F unit? If it’s an OEM 180F I’d leave it alone. You don’t have your location in your profile, so I’m not sure of your weather temps right now. Freeway driving or just small market roads/quick trips?
The old set up was the stock tstat setup. I did the "inline* tstat setup with the 180 tstat, Sorry I totally blew that first description. Im in Georgia . I did a 30 mile dive that included stop and go and freeway.
I would say your old temps are an indication of air but no one seems to appreciate knowing that...just more money, parts and time to waste.
Nope....no air...I used a vacuum pump to fill the system. I think my issue was a bad WP but I wanted to the inline at the same time so I went ahead with it. The pump was obviously dragging at times.
Looks great. I throw a PO126 "too long to reach temperature" code every time I start my 03 D2 up, but my ambient temps have remained cool here in Missouri. Your running temps coincide with mine. If you aren't seeing that code, that is encouraging to me as spring has begun to sprang here now and maybe it will quit doing that as soon as the delta is smaller. You did a nice job on that!
I get P0126 all the time on the 04 D2 with a Britpart 180F thermostat. Kinda pissed it’s that picky, but I blame it on the SAI extra temp sensor in the radiator or the lack of an oil cooler. My other D2’s never trigger a P0126 and the only difference = they don’t have SAI & they both have oil coolers vs the 04 which does not.
So on an 04 if I get a P0126 for running to cool I give myself a pat on the back to a cool running 4.6L D2!!
