Thanks guys, i changed the canshaft sensor today, the service light is now out!!!!! It was easier than i thought, the only pain was the clip that held the connector away from the the crankshaft pulley

Only way to reset it is to remove the timer from the passenger's kick panel
(on a Discovery I) and reset it.

If this is the amber check engine light - then yes, code related from an engine OBDII scanner.
Hello JFALL,

I have an '01 P38 with the "service engine soon" light on as well. You mentioned there is a "timer" module by the passenger's kick panel. Would you know if the location could also be found at the same location on the Range Rover as well?

Also, the "service engine soon" probably means something in my case. What should be considered to be serviced when the light comes on? I ask this question because I have done the following when I first purchase the car about 15K miles ago:

1: new spark plugs
2: new spark plug cables
3: lubed drive shafts
4: replaced transmission fluid and filter
5: replaced transfer case filter
6: replaced engine oil with synthetic (3 times now), filters
7: replaced air filter
8: ran engine flush fluid prior to each oil change
9: ran fuel system cleaner 3 times now
10: cleaned idle sensor twice
11: sprayed MAF sensor
12: replaced all O2 sensors
13: replaced radiator
14: replaced all radiator hoses
15: replaced thermostat
16: flushed coolant

About 4K miles ago, I noticed the car is not running as smoothly or strong most of the time it's driven (especially when the air is much cooler).

Are there sensors that I could replace so the system can get accurate fuel/air mixture? I think that's the problem I'm having with me car and resulting in poor MPG. The computer says 13.5mpg but I'm thinking around 12mpg if I'm not pushing the car hard.

Any advices?

Thank you,

Chris
