Default Engine Temperature 215-218* at idle

I would never know without the scan gauge. The needle doesn't move an inch in the 195-218* the temperature fluctuates.

Anyways I noticed today temperature was reaching 218* at idle. Revving the engine did bring it down to 204*.

My main question is this a little high even though its a very hot louisiana summer?

And how do I know if my clutch is locking?

I have been noticing the SWOOSH sound alot more within the past week or two. But im not sure what that means, locking/slipping.

Im changing the coolant tomorrow to get the coolant to water mix right.. Right now I think Im running about 75% antifreeze.

The fan will roar when it is engaged, quite when it is not.
That roar is louder than the engine on my truck. It only comes on on hot days when sitting in traffic etc. Usually quietens down before I get 300 yards down the road and the air moving through the radiator is enough to cool the sensor on the clutch.

Your temp "gauge" on the dash is nothing more than an idiot light. When it moves past the middle your truck would be severely overheated already. 218 F is about the top temp you should see after driving for a while then idling.

The swoosh sound means you have a coolant leak so find and fix that before you worry about flushing the system. I would suggest you replace the t/stat after fixing your leak, if your head gaskets aren't leaking then check to make sure both electrical fans are working, also the main fan which should turn with little resistance when cold and a lot of resistance when hot.
As mentioned your are running too hot and I wouldn't drive it till you fix the issue.

Your fine then.
When idling in 100+F heat with the a/c on its going to get hot.

Change the coolant though, you have to much antifreeze and not enough water, that can cause issues.
