Default Engine Wash

So, I decided to "power scrub" the engine yesterday......I went to the local "spray-n-wash" anout a mile from my house. I sprayed off the engine nice and clean. Looked great. She started right up and I let it run for a few minutes. Pulled out onto the main road and she decided to become a bucking bronco. Pulled over let her idle for a few more minutes. Drove away smoothly...minute later she bucks again...serious miss....CEL comes on then flashes...I am almost home so I limp her in...yum,yum smell the rotten eggs....I calmly tell my 5 year old who had gone with me to go inside then I sit in the car alone greiving the coming expense for this one..Pulled the codes...only one...PO308 , cylinder 8 misfire.

Let the engine "dry out" for several hours ..went to get gas (at 1.70 / gallon for 93 ) ran good till the way back then CEL in the driveway. Reset the codes (same PO308). 4 hours later drove around again , all seems well and no more codes thrown.

I was just surprised/angry that this would happen especially since I have brand new Magnecor 8mms and Bosch +4s. What the heck else could get wet and cause a miss? Yes all the boots are secure so I should not have had watergetting tosparkaccording to those on this forum.

All I can think of is that the high pressure water got into a plug wire boot/coil boot.
I do not use a high pressure washer when I hose my engine off, that is just way to much pressure.
Glad that all is well not that it is dried out.

I have power scrubbed my engine, on the average of once a month since I bought it and never experienced any issues.
I would supect that this truck has the original factory plug wires and # 8 got a chance to ground out.
Sounds like it is time for wires like the 8 mm Magnacor's.

Short bus, engines are water resistant, they are meant to get wet, even the electrics, but under high pressure water will get into places that you do not want it to.

as long as its running good now i dont think you have anything to worry about... odds are you just got a bit of water in a place you werent supposed to... once it dried up the problem went away... hopefully it doesnt come back... and next time you power wash your enging make sure everything is good and tight before you go to spraying...

I wash mine every spring, I bring my ramps with me so that I can get the underside of the engine too.
I never sweeze the trigger, there is enough pressure without it.

If that happened with new wires, I would try it again, if it repaeats, I would call whoever you bought the wires from and have the warranty the bad wire.
