Default Erratic Shift Pattern

My 2000 Disco II shifts into 4th gear at 40mph under normal driving conditions. Once the car is up to temperature the shift pattern changes when I restart it. It seems to switch to the Sport setting even though I do not hit the switch and the light is not on.

I notice the 4th gear shift now occurs at 50-55mph instead of the usual 40mph.

Has anyone experienced or noticed something similar? I know the shifting is electronic and several variables go into the "decision" on when to shift. It is noticeable since the 4th gear shift now occurs at a much higher speed. Thanks for reading this far!

Ok Pete, you know what is coming...MAF sensor. Ok, ok, just had to give you a hard time.
Check your voltage at the battery, other than that I have no idea, my DI uses the old style non ECU transmission.
Do I really need to say it? You all know what I think. (DI's are better than DII's) Thats for the new guys who dont know me yet.

Curse you MAF, curse you!!!

The Rover shifts like it should, just not where I want it to. I am fishing for some insights into the possible culprit.

Not the MAF.
Normal, at operating temp shift point is close to 55MPH depending on your tire size and gearing.
How many miles on your truck, when was the tranny last serviced?

I have 134,000 miles on her right now. I serviced the transmission twice in the last month. I also added a Filtermag which picked up quite a bit of debris between services. Stock gearing with 30" diameter tires.

Sound like it is time to go find a small tranny shop and have them access the tranny for the shifting issue.
