Two weeks ago, I bought a second Land Rover Discovery II. The first one, a 2002, I bought 2 months ago. The new Land Rover is a 2004 HSE in good condition 111,000 miles, but had/has some mechanical issues. As expected, it broke down on the 6 mile trip home, in 5:00 rush hour traffic, blocking one of two lanes - until I eased off the road with my Dodge truck. So far, about what I expected to happen.
I had it towed home and a few days later, I swapped in a new Crankshaft Position Sensor. It started up, but runs rough when in park/neutral and especially rough when shifted into gear. But, I can at least move it around some and test drive it in the neighborhood. I have not done any other mechanical work to it, yet. I read the engine error codes yesterday and they are below. Given that there are 12 of them and the symptoms I described, what would be the top 5 or so codes to focus on first and what parts need to be replaced that are causing the codes?
P1884 Engine air intake temperature invalid No apparent effect. On Off.
P1451 evap emission control sts vent control valve circuit
P0414 Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve A Circuit Shorted
P1482 DMTL Heater power stageDrive cycle A:Signal out of range - below minimum
P0445 Evap Control System Purge Valve C Short
P0448 Evap Control System Vent CKT Short
P0102 MAF or VAF A Ckt Low Input
P0340 Cam Position Sensor A Bank 1 CKT Malfunction
P1300 1300 is random misfire
P0134 O2S CKT No Activity Detected
P0154 O2S CKT No Activity Detected 2/1
P0300 Random/Multiple Cyl Misfire detected
Thanks for the help.
-Burwell, in New Orleans if there are any other folks here from New Orleans
Looks like a bad MAF sensor, easiest to start with that, nothing else will cause serious misfire. Start by getting a $5 ELM327 OBDII reader and the free torque app for android - chart the MAF sensor and the O2's. Post results here. We will go from there.

Thank you Extinct! Just yesterday afternoon, the iLand diagnostics tool came in from Atlantic British that I ordered. I haven't even unwrapped it yet. I got it mostly to program key fobs for both of my Rovers.
Surely the iLand will chart the MAF sensor and the O2 sensors?? I hope it does.
I went ahead and got proactive and ordered a new MAF sensor and the 4 O2 sensors.

What happened to your first 'Lander' Rover Discovery II? Do you still have it?
Sorry to hear that your Rover broke down in rush hour traffic - no fun when they have temper tantrums in bumper to bumper traffic.

I still have the first one. I got it for $500. We have put in head gaskets, a new steel rear bumper, new front bumper, and more. It's a 2002 and running pretty well. I have an exhaust leak I need to get fixed at the near by muffler shop, but overall, it's doing well!! Still tweaking it, but it will be fine.
