The evolution of my '04 Westminster
I bought my 04 Discovery Westminster Edition in January and decided to add a few of my own modifications to dress it up a bit. Curious to see what everyone thinks.
So far I have:
So I'm just curious to hear your thoughts. Some may not like the fully "murdered out" look of pretty much all black - but I really do. I would still really like to find a set of the rear/upper tail light guards - the G4(polymer) style. If anyone has a line on a set, I would appreciate a PM. Here are some before (stock photo of exactly how I brought it home) and after pics.

So far I have:
- replaced the awful triangular, three spoke (Saab looking) wheels with a more traditional Disco style
- painted the newly installed wheels with black PlastiDip - an easily removable but very durable rubber coating to see if I liked them black
- tinted the windows
- installed a touchscreen stereo/dvd/bluetooth headunit with a new, custom made dash bezel
- added LR running boards
- built a storage box for the rear cargo area. It is actually a heavy duty drawer with compartments to hold gear for bird hunting/fly fishing (not 100% done yet)

Like the black, but the 18's make tire options scarce (have the same rims, albeit not black). LOVE the drawer! Does it go all the way to the back seat? Also, looking to do something similar to the dash. Can your head unit be contrilled via the steering wheel or did you lose that?
Thanks. Yes, the drawer does go all the way to the back of the back seat. It is removable by simply lifting it out. Very simple to build - I just made a template of the footprint with some newspaper to get all the contours right and transferred it to 1/2" ply - hung a drawer on some extra heavy duty drawer slides and I was done. I covered the top in black carpet to match. I am going finish the front edge in either an ebony wood veneer or possibly just a black vinyl wrap to tie everything together.
I bought a second dash trim bezel off ebay and created a custom fit for the now single DIN (OEM is 1.5 DIN) JVC 100% touchscreen stereo/dvd. I did wire up a steering wheel remote to it so all controls still work. Getting the finish right on this customized dash was the tricky part. Right now it is dipped in a black mahogony wood pattern. You can buy this film online to dip just about anything and make it woodgrain. The Range Rover Westminster has a black wood grain dash - that was my "inspiration". For my first time doing this dipping process - it looks really good.... but it isn't perfect. I may use the spare dash bezel and redo it another way. Not sure yet.

I just Plasti Dipped my wheels two weeks ago. They were black with a silver lip but I wanted to see them blacked out. The concept is great because it's not permanent. I would blackout the center caps on your wheels. I had your exactrunningboards when we first got our D2 but sold them and lifted truck. I also sold the 18" Comets for my 16" set knowing I would want to use it off road.
The drawer looks awesome! Best part about the D2 is function.

If you mean the dash - I bought a pretty inexpensive hydro dipping kit from TWN Industries

Here is a pic of the pattern I used (sorry for my poor quality photo above).
