Default Exaust leak at the cat converter

Started the ole girl this morning and I noticed what sounded like an exhaust leak underneath. I crawled under and checked where the header meets the exhaust, no leak. Then I noticed the leak on the front seam of the cat converter. Crap, no money in the budget to replace a cat(laid off from work in March). So in the morning I am going to mix up some JB Weld and see if i can patch it for a short term fix. I believe I can cover up the leak, but do you think the JB Weld will stay on the cat or will the heat burn it off?

Do you have a friend with a welder? That would be best. Not sure about the JB weld? I haven't looked in a good long while but they used to sell special paste to put on exhaust systems that would harden with heat. Also they make bandages to patch exh systems like that too. Try O'reily's or maybe NAPA, some place that sells more than just the usual Autozone stuff.

I know it's out of your way but there's a guy in Addison I used to go to a while back (private shop) but he may even patch that up for you for free? He's kind grumpy but a really nice guy. He's familiar with working on Rovers. His shop is called Joe's Muffler & it on Addison rd in between Beltline & Arapaho.

I believe the cat case is too thin to weld and that JB Weld might work. My concer, though, is that the cat may also be failing internally and may do a melt down which can go back into the muffler or at least cause some serious back pressure.
Cats are pretty, so to speak, in the $60 to $80 range, so don't let it go long.

I didn't realize they were that cheap, I was thinking a couple hundred $. I will check it out.

I know where Joe's muffler is. That Oasis Car Wash that used to be there was a customer of mine.

Here's a pair local that should fit your machine. I was going to get them for mine but the 95's are different apparently. (2 vs 4 O2 sensors). I think the magnaflows run about $100 each from online stores. They seem to be the ones that most use on here and have good results with.
