Exhaust manifold temperature
Would someone with a D2 4.0/4.6 and a temperature gun please check what temperature the exhaust manifolds actually are, with the truck running and thermostat opened?
My engine is out, and I want to put something on the manifolds just to keep the rust off.
I'm curious if stove paint will work, so I'de like to know just how hot the manifolds actually get.
I think that if I soak them in EvapoRust, cleaner, and give them several coats of stove paint, aerosol or even brush on, that it may not burn off.
Thanks for any help.

If I could find my darn infrared temp gun..... I had it during all the so called 180F thermostat BS with Lucky8, and now it's vanished lol. I think the last time I zapped em while I was messing around under the hood I was looking at 400F range if I'm not mistaken at idle.
Awesome
thanks guys
Over 400f is what I was thinking
This will have to be a warm weather project for me though, as it's too cold outside for me to paint.
