Expansion Tank Replacement
So I have an 03 DII which has a cracked expansion tank.
Biggest question is why is there such a huge price difference between these two tanks, and I am assuming I have to spend the $200 for the 03. They are not interchangeable?

Disco Mike. Is there something different between the two tanks that requires a new cap and thermostat--like stronger material, etc. Or is that just good preventive maintenance?
Good maintenance. The caps age, and if you had Dexcool it can attack them. If the cap is no longer holding the speced pressure, then coolant can be vented while you drive down the road. Thermostat - a 180F soft spring replacement model will drop coolant temps across the board.
+2 on what disco mike and savanah have said. Be care full when taking the tank out as the plastic pipes will break as soon as you look at them. You can then go to the dealership for new one or do like alot of us do and get some rubber pressure hose and clamps.
Agreed, go with the 180 degree stat, here are some install photos to make it easier for you.
