Default Extended warranties! Exclusionary coverage?

Does anyone have any experience with an exclusionary policy like one offered from Royal OEM?I was quoted one from warranty4wheels.com 4yr/48000 for$2770for my 03' Disco with 35,000 milesand factory warranty until June 27th. My understanding is that it covers everything unless it is listed in the notcovered section.$2770 sounds expensive but i think this covers almost everything except, maintenance parts, interior parts, andfluids.

Al the extended warrantys are expensive on Rover's do to their cost of repair. Have you gotten a quote from Rover yet, I would.
Also make sure that there is no diclaimer written in stating something to the effect that if the truck is modified the warranty may be voided.

You have a point Discomike
Most warranties including the one i am considering doesnt cover modified vehicles. I dont plan on modding my car until the warranty is over so that clause doesnt really apply to me. If i did mod i would only be interested in upgraded u-joints, or upgraded Air suspension. I would even consider a third party waranty and just buy the factory warranty extension if the closest land rover dealer wasn't 85 miles away!

I looked into Royal and Great lakes warranty thru warranty4wheels as well. I just purchased the 3year/36000 mile coverage from land rover for my '04 D2 w/ 49000 miles for around $2700. They all have positives and negatives, obviously you get a longer term of coverage with the others. But, the OEM is bumper to bumper (few exclusions), low deductible and they include a rental car whenever I have it serviced at the dealer...that can add up if you don't have another ride and need a car like I do.

I would weigh where you want it to be serviced as well. My land rover dealer is actually pretty good (shocker) so I went with their warranty- can only be used at land rover dealers. Some of the independent mechanics that work on rovers will honor the other warranties, so if you have a good independent rover mechanic near you it's worth going the other route. Hope this helps, I flipped back and forth on this decision for about 2 months before buying mine...it's always a gamble.

Thanks for the reply jdelp. The Royal offers me $50/day towards a rental car so that is similar to what the Rover dealer is offering. What was the great lakes warranty? Less comprehensive? I do have a good independent shop that works on high end foreign cars including land rover/range rover. I should speak to them about if they will honor the Royal warranty. Luckily I have until June 27th for my factory warranty to run out. The more I think about traveling 85miles to have my car fixed everytime given the track record of these trucks the more I am leaning towards a 3rd party warranty.

Check out the website for great lakes listed above. Surprised they didn't quote you for both when you called warranties4wheels, they gave me both right off the bat. Had I not gone w/ the rover extended warranty the great lakes plan would have been my next choice.

Bottom line, you need to talk with your shop or dealer, see if they have heard or delt with any of these companys, will they pay direct, what is there decline rate like. If the shops don't like them or won't honor their policy it doesn't make any difference how cheap or what the policy offers.

Amen. That's why I went with the Rover warranty as well. It was expensive and I may never need it but it's good to know the dealer will be taking care of the vehicle for awhile longer.
