Three things jump out at me as completely f-ing hilarious in the service history. And really, how far Land Rover customer service and dealerships have been forced to come since the early 00's when D2's where new. I owned a couple D2's in warranty service and the Land Rover dealer service at the time was so absolutely ****, the price gouging was insane, and they broke more than they fixed.
Ownership was frustrating between my newish Land Rover breaking all the time and the forums sucked (prime Disco Mike Days)...
#1 -- In Nov 2010 or so there's a dealer service record for replace rear wiper blade. Then in Jan 2011 there's a dealer service record for "customer asks to replace broken rear wiper arm". The DEALER BROKE THE REAR WIPER ARM bending it out too far behind the spare when replacing the blade 2 months prior. So obvious. I'm sure the customer had no idea.
#2 -- This. Amazing. I remember this fondly. Pricing each plug wire individually, like they are little bespoke pieces of art. $55 a spark plug wire. I remember my better half at the time paying $2500 for new plug wires and plugs and maybe a coil 1 month out of warranty on my 2003 D2.I literally thought they were replacing head gaskets, when she brought it home and showed the receipt, I saw a very similar parts list to this and was like... wow... that's criminal.
#3 -- Rear sunroof leaking between roof and upper frame. So the repair -- at the dealer -- was "inexpensive and not guaranteed" and they ran a bed of silicone around the perimeter on the exterior. Jesus F-ing Christ... Do it right guys. I had this done on my 03 and an 04 under warranty. THEY REPLACED FRAMES BECAUSE THE SEAL WAS NEVER AVAIL AS A SPARE PART. THE SEAL IS FOAM TAPE.
My point is... it's so much better owning a D2 now than when in warranty or when dealer service was in the playbook.
