Default Factory Hitch

I have a 2000 Discovery II that has a factory installed classIII hitch. My owner's manual says, " An equalizing or other form of weight distributing hitch should NOT be used with this vehicle". I'm looking to tow a 5000 lb. trailer. Does anyone know why you can't use an equalizing hitch? Also are there class IV hitched available for my model?

Default RE: Factory Hitch

The hitch you have will easily handle your 5000 pound trailor, what have you done about trailor wiring? Have you already added the electrical convertor unit so you will have wires to plug ino>
