Default Faded (orange) seat belt buttons

Painted my faded seat belt buttons. Only thing that bothered me as they stuck out against the black leather that I condition constantly with Lexol.

Yes... kids fingernail polish from Walmart. Works! The trick... sand the brush strokes with an Emory board. Guess I will be doing the wife's manicure next lol!
Not bad for under $10.00.

My seatbelt buckle button looks worn and faded too. I was thinking, if I could sand the buckles and rub in Meguiars PlastX to polish it I think I could get pretty close to the original color. PlastX from Meguiars is the same stuff used to clear up old headlights damaged from UV rays. Let me know what you think

I say give it a try! Crazy that tiny faded orange buttons would require attention but they do if they stand out. I tried coloring them with an orange Sharpie marker. Looked like I colored it 😞. Came close to taping and spraying with orange Krylon Fusion paint. Then got the finger nail polish idea from seeing bottles in my daughters room. The acrylic hardener is tough stuff.

I did not like the brush strokes. Almost considered removing by chipping and sanding off. Liquid remover would have made a mess and ruin the surrounding black plastic. The Emory board was thin and perfect for the small area. After knocking the brush strokes down and glossy finish I decided it looked about as good as it was going to get. Realizing it was hard to remove helps knowing it will last and not fade. It can always be touched up👍🏻
