Fan Clutch Question:
Pretty sure I know the answer, but...
I was diagnosing a warmer engine at idle vs underway (208 vs 185) spun the fan when it was warm and felt like peanut butter like it should. (very little to zero rotation)
BUT...I later had the engine running and carefully made contact with the spinning fan and was able to stop it with VERY little resistance/effort. (Darwin Award winning, i know)
The thing is shot, right?
Thanks guys!

well it doesn't necessarily mean that its bad. I hope you used a towel or welding glove or someone elses hand. all that means is that it was not engaged at the time of penetration. does it continue to spin when you kill the engine? how long?
DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! I know a guy with two shortened fingers on his left hand from contact with a fan. There is no amount of protection or safety equipment that makes touching a moving fan safe. Simply don't ever do it.
Believe me, I didn't jam my hand in there... Haha. Anyway, I was able to completely stop the fan easily- then I let go and it began to spin again-- engine was warm at the time...
