I've heard of others doing just this, not a good idea due to the additional noise and over cooling during winter use. It's better to replace the viscous fan than 'nail' it permanently as many have found out. In truth, once on the highway at constant 45mph+ the viscous fan ceases to have any operational effect due to the air 'ram' effect and only works at slower, hard acceleration or start/stop scenarios.
