Think I answered my question

It looks like the Themostat to water pump hose assembly....I think mine was rigged from past failure so it did not quite look the same.

The fan clutch tool from autozone is a waste of time. I ended up buying a big adjustable wrench from Northern Tool. Used it with the hammer technique and it came right off.
