I drive my Rover for pleasure, if I hit 60mph I must be in a hurry

I’ll never do that again.
I’m with this dude. The exact same thing happened to me. Cowling blew off and I caught it in my rear view mirror flipping around like tornado debris.

I only drive mine once or twice during the weekend but 60 (@2000RPM) is tops for me. 3” lift and 33”s and the original steering box doesn’t exactly give you that glued to the road confidence.

I guess after driving 2 horrible 05 Jeep Wranglers with $$$$ dumped into them and barely making it to 65MPH with a strong tail wind and death wobble a LR is like an exotic sports car to me.

All of my D2’s are lifted and they handle very good. Steering is solid and precise, and I’m normally at 75-80MPH at about 2750-2850RPM. I travel with my wife & kids a lot in a D2 and if I didn’t feel safe I honestly wouldn’t own one or drive one!

Depends on how fast the guy in front of me is going.

Seriously 5 over is what I do. Although the LR3 lifted on tires etc does fine at much higher speeds.

2inch lift 32 inch tires I run 80 to 85 and the rover seems pretty happy. Air blows cold and temps stay low. Wind noise is a bit much from the roof rack but otherwise it seems effortless

2800 rpm is my comfortable max cruising speed about, 75. Above that I worry about front driveshaft, short wheelbase, plastic flying off, high sustained engine fan speed (one of those flew apart once) etc etc. I had daughter who also liked to drive hers 80. Put 18's on her 2000 Disco equipped with 16"'s previously, speedometer read almost 8mph fast. She thought she was going 80, truck was going 72. Rotating bits still going faster than I wanted, but at least the road speed was lower.

South Dakota 80 mph speed limit on interstate. 80+ with 32” tires is comfortable.

I usually run about 140 mph on 35 mph-posted city streets. Never a problem.

I haven’t had my disco very long and because I read these forums you all have got me paranoid waiting for something to break. I’ve only topped it at 75 but my normal hwy speed is 70. My 3 is a totally different story though. I drove down to ocean city Maryland this past summer and loaded down w 3 surfboards on the roof 5 people and all the necessities for a week I had it at 90-95 mph and was still getting passed by the whole trip.
