Default Fault code P0125

96 Disco 140,000 miles. Weather has changed, gotten a little colder. Now I have a check engine light with a P0125 code any help out there?

Is your truck warming up? Temp gauge should be around halfway up. This is your code....

P0125
Generic
Insufficient Coolant Temp For Closed Loop Fuel Control

You have a bad coolant temp sensor and your engine is unable to get out of closed loop, running very rich and getting bad gas mileage.

Not to argue the fine points but gas mileage has not suffered. Thanks for all the feedback guys, I will change the temp switch and see how that goes.

A t/stat will not correct a fault for a failed coolant sensor!!!

Check this site, they have your sensor for $34.

With that fault code and your sensor out, you are running in open loop and the ECU has no way to set timing or air/fuel mixtures, your mileage can't be that good and the good news is it will get better.
