Default finally threw some codes!!!

Hey all, normally when people get codes coming back on the scanner they race on here to complain...I know cause I'm one of them, lol. But this time I'm glad...well maybe. I have thrown p0300 and p0306 which I know is a multiple misfire and #6 misfire, and I have read a few threads on the same thing. But no one ever says if it was solved.

What is the most common cause of this, and the worst case scenario that I could be dealing with?

Just a little back ground I have not changed my plugs in a while, and when I did change them I didn't know much about the truck so I put auotlite single platinum plugs and the cheapest wires they had.

I know this is my first thing I need to change, so I am gonna get it done this week.

What else can I look for to try and clear this up?

Thanks

-jon

Best case, you need spark plugs or wires. Worst case, you need an engine block.

How many miles are on the autolite plugs?

They are around 3 years old and have about 20,000 on them. They were about $3.00 a piece and single platinum.

What are the best plugs and wires to get?

Man I hope its not the engine block.

If they were cheap wires, it's probably those. I personally like NGK plugs, and many recommend a good 8mm wire of various brands.

Maybe these: Kingsborne Wire Werks Inc - Spark plug wires, Automotive, RV, Motorcycle, Marine, Racing, Industry

Awesome, I will get some double platinum plugs and a good set of 8mm wires. Hopefully that will cure it.

Thanks jafir

British Parts of Utah has the 8 mm silicone STI wires as well as the Magnecor's.

Most scanners decode the Rover codes.
But if not - look them up here:

http://enginecodemaster.com

The misfire codes are hit and miss.

You'll memorize them if it goes on too long.
Good luck to you.

Thanks again

Today I ordered the magnecor 7mm wires, intake gasket, valve cover gaskets...may as well change them now while the intake is already off, and picking up some Bosch double platinum plus 4. I hope this will fix the problem.
The guy at a.b. said the only difference in 7 and8mm is 8 will not fit and hits the top of the hood. Anyway he matched thmotorsports price for $106. For the wires.

Should have ordered the 8mm wires as suggested, they hold up much better then 7 mm wires.

Say - while that intake is off, might be a good time to do a pressure test on the fuel pump, the test port is normally very hard to get to.
