Good thing you have finished the gasket job in 32 hours. It took me 40 hours to do it. Geesh.

2 oil changes worth of oil (12 quarts), a couple gallons of coolant, and a couple quarts of PAS fluid.

Hi All - been a member for a while but first time poster. Picking up on an old thread so thanks in advance for any input.

Just like clockwork at 60K my wife's '03 DII comes up with the mysterious missing coolant issue. Did some searching here and sure enough, coolant tracks running all over the place at the rear of the engine & down to the bell housing.

Convinced I'm in for head gaskets and this thread is very helpful. I've rebuilt V8's before (even one from Rover SD1, believe it or not) and have had the upper plenum off for plug wires so I've got the basics covered. But obviously modern LR engines are more complex. Other than info on the Rave CD (downloading today) are there any notable difficulties in doing this job?

As I said, thanks in advance!

Ron

If you can do headgaskets on a DI you can do it on a DII, they are the exact same engine just different engine management systems.
You have pulled the intake, half the job is done.

Yea, seriously the hardest/longest parts that I remember are.

Accessory Removal and Cleaning the sludge.

Thanks for the input & encouragement. After I finish, I'll add my experience to this thread for future readers.
