RE: first day of ownership and i have a issue
From another forum:
unplug your rear window defroster and rear brake light connection at the back window, insert an 10 amp fuse, press your rear defroster switch on your instrument panel. this should unlock your shift interlock.
it also means your brake switch is bad.

I have also heard of that but do not know if it works or not, and why do you have to insert a fuse? Why cant you just turn the rear defroster on?
Sloppyjoe, you are now our official guine pig on this, start the truck and turn on the rear defroster, can you shift out of park?
Then unplug the rear defroster at the back window, insert the fuse, can you shift out of park?
Let us know, we will be waiting with baited breath to know what works and what doesnt.

RE: first day of ownership and i have a issue
I only read the first page of posts, so forgive me if someone already has said this: The transmission shift linkage is resting against the parking pawl inside the transmission, when you park on a slope and the vehicle rolls that little bit, the parking pawl becomes wedged tighter against the shift linkage making it extremely hard, or impossible to shift out of park. To avoid this, when you park, apply the parking brake so the vehicle doesn't roll.
