First Repair (Coolant Leak)
Hey everyone,
newbie discovery owner here. in addition to the major service list, i have a coolant leak that i'm going to tackle. this is my first repair on a discovery, so any advice or tips would be awesome. i'm not sure what this piece is called yet, or the best way to attack it, but i've attached a couple photos:

also, what's the best way to remove those clamps from those hoses, and once i get them off, are they reusable or should i use something different?
thanks in advance,
jared

I used a long nose pliers on the clamps and slid the loose end to the side until it clips loose, you can reuse the clamps or get others. That thin black plastic hose may break, use 5/16 ID heater hose to replace it if it does.

x100 I would go get a 10 pack of the mini hose clamps and replace all of them with the clip style you see now on your motor. I would skip the ones by the coolant expansion tank otherwise replace all that you can get to. The screw version grip a little tighter and your hoses are less likely to leak after you replace your throttle body plate. My hoses still leaked until I got the screw style hose clamps.
fantastic, thanks to both of you!! i just ordered the parts from AB and i found a thread from jycsala with step by step instructions on how to access, clean and replace the heater. that crystalized coolant is some crazy looking ugly stuff. are you both running the dex or have you flushed n replaced?
thanks again. i'll post my results, too.

I'm running Dex-Cool after my coolant flush this summer. But after reading all the research that Spike555 posted. I will use use Peak Global. Its really hard to find locally, but seems less corrosive than Dex-cool over the lifetime of your ride.
